How to share or save a moment as an image

Updated 2026-10-14 · 2 min read
Short answer

A moment stays private until you export it as an image 1080 pixels wide, and you choose whether time, place and weather show. The Signet signature line is on by default and can be turned off in Settings.

A moment stays private until you export it. Here is what the exported image contains and how to control it.

Export a moment

Open a moment and choose to share or save it. The image is 1080 pixels wide and its height follows the mounting format you chose. You can share it or save it to Photos.

What appears on the image

  • The mounted photo or text, and the seal or seals.
  • A caption line reading Signet at the bottom, on by default. You can turn it off in Settings.
  • Time, place and weather, which are three separate switches, all off by default and applying only to that moment.

About weather

The weather caption is taken with Apple WeatherKit when you ask for it. It is disabled when the photo was taken more than ten hours ago, and in that case the place can only come from the photo's own location. When weather is shown, the Apple Weather attribution is shown with it, as Apple requires.

What does not leave your phone

Nothing is sent anywhere when you export. The image is created on your iPhone, and what you do with it afterwards is up to you. The colophon of a custom seal is not printed on exported images.
